Many local groups and schools come to us with their fundraising needs and we help them structure an event that meets their needs. We offer a fun, interactive environment which is a far less expensive option for many organizations.
Our own Cancer Centre Bowlathon has raised nearly one million dollars and we consider ourselves experts in helping other organizations put their own fundraising event together.
Groups that have visited us this season include: A Life Worth Living (which raises money for the unsighted and related causes), Msgr. Caron elementary school, Essex County Humane Society, “Joey’s Journey”, Cancer Centre Bowlathon and many others.
If your school or group needs to raise funds, call Jonathan today at 258-9321 or e-mail him from our contact page and learn more about how we can help you!
Cancer Bowl-a-thon
Over the past 10 years we have raised over $1 Million through the bowlathon with all proceeds going to the Windsor, Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation. The monies raised have gone towards the purchase of an M.R.I. machine and CT scanner for the Cancer Centre, paving the patient parking lot, the Prostrate and Breast cancer programs and other needs to assist with the diagnosis and treatment on cancer patients in this region.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our many volunteers who work so hard to make this a successful event, our sponsors and the bowlers who combined raised over $40,000.00 this year.
I would also like to thank Barrie Rubin the owner of the Bowlero and the management and staff for their continuing support. The Bowlero Family Fun Centre along with all the other ways they help with the event donate the lineage for the bowlathon.
On a sad note two of our long serving volunteers and the wife of another has died since last year's event. Charlie Fecteau, Randy Meyer and Ruth Ann Parent have all passed recently:
Charlie who I'm sure was a familiar face to most of you as he was gathering pledges for the bowlathon was tops in pledge money raised year after year, raising over $60,000.00 himself over the years, starting with the first bowlathon.
Randy was also a volunteer from the beginning. His advice and ideas helped shape the bowlathon. He also put in much of his time raising money and getting us some great raffle and door prizes.
Ruth Ann's husband Moe, a former manager of Bowlero has also been a volunteer from the beginning putting in a lot of work particularly getting sponsors and selling raffle tickets. Ruth Ann was never far from Moe’s side helping him out and providing support.
On behalf of all of us involved in the bowlathon I want to express our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of Charlie Fecteau, Randy Meyer and Ruth Ann Parent. They will be missed and always remembered.
Plans are already underway for the 12th annual Cancer Center Bowlathon to be held in Feb., 2008.
Again, thanks so much to all who participated in this wonderful event.
Ken Brown, co-chair.
