Newsletter January 2008 (2008-01-09)
2008 is upon us and already we can look back at the first half of the bowling season and look forward to the excitement that is yet to come! The calendar is full of events that are upcoming, all of which offer something for everyone! Bowlero’s annual Cancer Bowl-a-thon is going to take place on Saturday, February 23rd with two shifts, one at 12:30 and the other at 3:30. This year we hope to add significantly to the over ONE MILLION dollars which this event has raised for the local Cancer Clinic. All funds raised through this bowl-a-thon remain right here in Windsor, serving our residents and community! And you can help! All you have to do is pick up a pledge sheet at the front desk and collect some donations from your friends and family and then come out to the bowl-a-thon on the 23rd and enjoy some fun Rock N Bowling! Why not enter your whole family or bowling team? Anyone can participate! For more details just come in and visit or call today. On Saturday, Feb 2nd there will be a Baker’s Doubles tournament at 1:00. For those who are unfamiliar with the format, in a Baker’s game one person bowls all the frames on the right lane while their partner bowls all the frames on the opposite lane. Together they bowl one game in this way eight times, moving one pair to the right after each game. The top teams (ratio based on entries) advance to the elimination round, where the lowest score of all the teams bowling is eliminated. The remaining teams move a pair to the right and bowl again until there are two teams left. The final two teams move to a predetermined pair of lanes and bowl head to head for the championship. Doubles teams cannot exceed a combined average of 420 based on last year’s year book average. The ten pin rule is in effect, meaning that if your current league average is ten pins or more higher than said year book average, the current average will be used. Entry forms are available at the front desk so find a partner and sign up today! February also brings with it the 53rd annual Molson Master’s Bowling Classic. Last year’s champion Todd Simm will be joined by the top 39 qualifiers in match play on Saturday, March 1st at 1:00 pm. The winners of each group will advance to the televised finals on Saturday, March 8th at 2:00pm. Qualifying dates and times are listed on the entry form which is available at the front desk or on our website under the “tournament” page. With the mild temperatures we’ve experienced so far in early January, we are reminded that spring will be here before you know it. Spring coming means time to break out the golf clubs for many of our league members and open bowler’s alike. So remember that April 1st the REVS-BOWLERO driving range opens. 22 artificial stalls along with a natural grass hitting area are a great way to work on your swing. So remember to come out and join us on the driving range starting April 1st. As promised, the transition of the old Bowlero to REVS-BOWLERO has been as smooth as possible with maximum attention to maintaining our high level of customer service. We want to thank everyone for their patience and continued patronage and we always welcome your feedback too! Much of what we’ve learned and changed over the years has been a result of what our customers have told us they would like to see. If you have a thought, please let us know. You can leave comments at the front desk or fill out our comment form on our website.
