Ebonite Ice
Ebonite’s “Elements” series is highlighted by these two very reliable, consistent balls. With technology seemingly changing monthly, it’s nice to see a symmetrical core design with proven cover stocks.
The Blue Pearl Ice was the first introduction in this line and was immediately popular locally, proving itself as a dynamite ball especially from outside angles and ‘down and in’.
It’s Trimax reactive pearl cover was used in the reactive Trimax balls as well as the V2 sanded. The core is the same design used in the Low Flare Stinger, which was a very popular model for medium-dry conditions a couple of years ago.
The reaction of this ball is perfect for bowlers who struggle to hold back the more powerful models in today’s balls. It performs particularly well on dry back ends, like our house condition that many of our leagues bowl on. It is also recommended for bowlers with slower speeds, as it resists over reacting with its smooth back end move. The best feature may be that all this does not lead to a lack of strength in carry. This ball saves lots of energy for the pocket and is a reliable performer!
Ice’s counterpart, the Black Ice is a solid version of the pearl original. This model is just a tad stronger than the original and tends to skid slightly less. It also takes sanding well, which really gives it a different look and reaction. As with the pearl, it will surprise you with how well it hits and carries.
Perhaps the best feature of these two balls is the price. These balls perform as well as balls that are twice the price. They also are a good selling item for us because of how well they match up to our lanes and the common lane conditions/patterns we employ.
