Hammer’s latest introduction into the heavy oil, large hooking balls is the Black Widow. The “Gas Mask” core design delivers both a low r.g. which allows the ball to rev up quickly for almost any release and a large differential which delivers a large track flare.
Disregarding the technical information for a moment, this ball flat out wants to hook! The Black Widow combines the control and smooth reaction of a mid-range ball with a large hooking action from the mid lane through the back end and crushing pin action. The shell material on the Black Widow is called “Violent Reactive” and comes out of the box in a smooth finish. It polishes very nicely for more length through the front part of the lane but even in a polished shell, the reaction on the back end is much less sudden or sharp than one might expect. This is especially beneficial for those who bowl on fresh back ends or who have slower or medium speed.
The Black Widow also features a very sharp look on the lanes with a solid black colour with just a hint of red swirl.
